2. Product Description
The Owl Personal Safety Alarm is a loud personal keychain alarm (approximately 130 dB) with a pull-pin activation system and a bright LED light. It is powered by replaceable button/cell batteries and has an expected standby life of at least 1 year and a continuous alarm duration of approximately 90 minutes when activated.
3. Intended Use & Age Restriction
This device is designed and intended solely as a personal safety/distress alarm for adults and responsible teenagers. It is NOT a toy. It is NOT designed, intended, or certified for use by children under 14 years of age. Parents or guardians who choose to provide this device to children do so entirely at their own risk and responsibility.
4. Specific Safety Warnings (please read carefully)
- The alarm produces an extremely loud 130 dB siren. Deliberate or accidental activation close to the ear can cause temporary or permanent hearing damage, particularly in children.
- The LED is very bright. Never look directly at the LED or shine it into anyone’s eyes.
- The activation pin and certain internal parts are small and present a choking hazard if removed and swallowed, especially by young children.
- The device contains small button/cell batteries. These batteries can cause serious injury or death if swallowed. Keep out of reach of children.
- Battery replacement must only be carried out by an adult.
- Do not attempt to modify, dismantle, or use the device for any purpose other than as a personal safety alarm.
5. Limitation of Liability
5.1 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- any breach of the terms implied by section 12 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (title and quiet possession);
- defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987; or
- any other liability which cannot be limited or excluded by law.
5.2 Subject to clause 5.1, we shall not be liable (whether caused by our employees, agents, or otherwise) for any:
- injury or damage caused by misuse, accidental activation, or failure to follow the warnings above;
- use of the product by or with children under 14;
- hearing damage, eye damage, choking, battery ingestion, or any other injury arising from foreseeable or unforeseeable misuse.
6. Your Statutory Rights These terms do not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable consumer protection legislation.
7. Product Compliance We have carried out a risk assessment under the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
We carry out checks on all alarms before they are sent out but we recommend you test them regularly to make sure they have not malfunctioned.
8. Governing Law These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
9. Updates We may update these terms from time to time. The version applicable to your purchase is the one displayed at the time you placed your order.
